It’s Saturday, so I thought it would be fun to take some time out to remember some of our best posts from the last year or so. In no particular order, these were the most popular posts on Communizine over the last 12 months. Which ones have you not read yet? 1. Why Did Ender’s Game Fizzle at the Box Office? - A detailed and thoughtful essay about why Ender’s Game didn’t perform better at the box office. This was a post from our frequent contributor, scifiguy. 2. Is Netflix Worth It? This post was actually written in early 2012, but it’s been popular ever since. We’re planning a sequel to this post which will take a closer look at Netflix’s current plans and what they might do with their service in 2014. 3. Which Blockbuster Stores Are Closing in 2013? – This post was written before we found out the final answer: all of them. Chances are, if there’s a Blockbuster located near you, it’s already undergoing an out of business sale. So stock up on DVDs while you can get them cheap. 4. The Meaning of Valhalla Rising - This is a post from 2011, but believe it or not, it’s still one of the most popular features on our site. If you were confused by this movie and its ending, then this post will help clear some of that confusion up for you. 5. Grindhouse Movies on Netflix Instant - As you might already know, especially if you’ve been reading the blog for a while, we’re big fans of Netflix here. Not all of these movies are still available on Netflix Instant, so it might be time to write a sequel to this post, too. 6. The Secret to Making a Great Red Velvet Cake - I’ve never met anyone who dislikes red velvet cake. 7. Good Spaghetti Westerns on Netflix Instant - Most of these are still available to watch on Netflix Instant, but not all of them. I love spaghetti westerns, though, and so do our readers, apparently. 8. Female Superheroes with Curly Hair - I’m not entirely sure what inspired this post, but it’s surprisingly popular with our readers. 9. Crowdsourcing and Crowdfunding for Canceled TV Shows – An interesting look at a relatively new phenomenon. 10. Who Was the Mazola Corn Actress? - A great example of our philosophy that no entertainment related topic is too obscure. 11. Dungeon Crawl Classics Review – Since publishing this review, we’ve played this game several times, and we loved it every time. 12. An American Psycho Interpretation - Our readers love the posts in which we explain or interpret unusual films. Our American Psycho interpretation is still one of the most popular of these kinds of posts. 13. 33 Things You Didn’t Know about The Walking Dead - This is one of the most recent posts to make our “most popular” and “best of” list.
